MEMORANDUM // EYES ONLY

TO: Agent [Redacted]

COVER IDENT: The Fly

Assignment: Day One: Keep Them Laughing.

Remember: A sword makes an enemy draw steel. A joke makes them lower their hands to slap their knee. You are never the joke — you’re the agent holding the recorder. Keep it running while they’re spilling their guts in laughter, and walk out with the evidence.

FILE NOTE — THE INSPIRATION: Before S.A.B.L.E., there was THE SPEAR. Lance Spearman — hero of African Film, the Drum Publications photo plays that ran across Africa from 1968 to 1972 — was the original: a Black super-spy in tailored suits and a Panama hat, with half a million fans from Lagos to Nairobi, a decade before Hollywood caught up. The Fly studied his files. The goggles are new. The game is the same.
